Gives a perspective on the experiences of growing up of North and South Vietnamese youths through the adult-youth relations. Explores educational systems in the North and the South and the role of social organizations for children and adolescents. Traces the history of publications and compares the development of publishing venues in the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) and North Vietnam and the Republic of Vietnam (RVN). Analyzes how education and socialization were embedded in concrete examples of texts produced for and by children and adolescents in the DVR and RVN.
